Job summary

AgeCare Dawson is seeking a Health Care Aide to join our care team in Chestermere, AB. Under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide safe basic care and support to residents, including bathing, transfers, meals, and mobility assistance.

Responsibilities include helping residents with daily living activities, transporting them within the facility, and supporting therapy and social activities. Relevant PCA/HCA certification and CLHA registration are required or in process.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA certificate or equivalent education.
• Active registration with the CLHA is required.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents following the NCP and strict temperature controls.
• Transfer/assist residents using ceiling lifts, mechanical lifts, and transfer belts.
• Feed and assist with meals; follow each resident's care plan.
• Provide routine treatments under supervision of a Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents with mobility and travel in the facility.
• Escort residents to dining, beauty parlor, physiotherapy, and recreation activities.

The OpportunityAs a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care. The Health Care Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, applies their knowledge and skills in order to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
