Job summary

AgeCare Dawson in Chestermere, AB is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our care team. Under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, you will provide basic care and daily living assistance to residents, including bathing, feeding, transfers, and mobility support, following the Nursing Care Plan.

The ideal candidate has a PCA/HCA certificate, is fluent in English, and has at least one year of continuing care experience or related settings.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• One year experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to protocol to promote comfort.
• Assist with transfers using appropriate equipment and PPE.
• Feed and assist residents during meals and snacks.
• Provide routine treatments and care under supervision of the Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel within the facility and attend activities.
• Support residents with mobility and participate in social/therapy functions.

The OpportunityAs a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care. The Health Care Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, applies their knowledge and skills in order to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
