Job summary

AgeCare Dawson in Chestermere, AB, seeks a Health Care Aide (HCA) for a regular part-time role within our care team. You will support residents with daily living activities under supervision and ensure safety and comfort per care plans.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment is preferred.
• Post-secondary education an asset.
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
• Completion of a recognized Personal Care Aide (PCA/HCA 2002 or greater) Certificate Course or Equivalent Education.
• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP and temperature controls.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers using ceiling lifts, mechanical lifts, and transfer belts.
• Feed/assist with meals and nourishment according to care plan.
• Provide routine treatments and care under supervision of Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel about the facility and to the Dining Room.
• Escort residents to beauty parlor, physiotherapy, and recreation activities.
• Accompany residents to social and therapy functions inside the facility.
• Always wear a transfer belt.

Work Location: AgeCare DawsonAddress: 77 Merganser Drive West, Chestermere, AB T1X 3J5FTE: 0.40Employment Type: Regular Part TimeThe OpportunityAs a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care. The Health Care Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, applies their knowledge and skills in order to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
