AgeCare Dawson in Chestermere, AB is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our care team. Under supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will support residents with daily living activities.

Responsibilities include personal care, transfers, meals, and routine treatments, while maintaining safety and dignity. Requirements include a PCA/HCA certificate and CLHA registration; English fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.
• Completion of PCA/HCA certificate or equivalent education. Active CLHA registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing and hygiene per care plan.
• Assist with transfers using lifts and equipment as needed.
• Assist with feeding and meals according to diet.
• Provide routine treatments and care procedures under supervision.
• Assist residents with mobility and getting around the facility.
• Support residents to dining and activities.
• Follow safety and infection control practices.

The OpportunityAs a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care. The Health Care Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, applies their knowledge and skills in order to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
