Job summary

Ellos HR Solutions is recruiting a Health & Safety Coordinator for a well established heavy industrial manufacturing company in Welland, Ontario. The role involves hands-on safety on the manufacturing floor, strengthening safety culture, and partnering with Operations, HR and plant leadership.

You will develop programs, conduct inspections, lead incident investigations, and coordinate training to ensure OSHA compliance and continuous improvement in a demanding industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment is essential.
• Post secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario OHSA and workplace safety regulations.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, workplace inspections and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve workplace safety programs, procedures and preventative initiatives.
• Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead investigations involving workplace incidents, injuries and near misses.

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually

Ellos HR Solutions is recruiting a Health & Safety Coordinator for a well established heavy industrial manufacturing company in Welland, Ontario.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who enjoys being hands on, working directly with employees on the manufacturing floor, and making a real difference in workplace safety

Our client operates in a demanding industrial environment where employee safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement are essential.

We are looking for someone who can help strengthen an already established safety culture while working closely with Operations, Human Resources and plant leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve workplace safety programs, procedures and preventative initiatives
• Conduct workplace inspections, identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Lead investigations involving workplace incidents, injuries and near misses
• Support safety programs involving cranes, mobile equipment, confined spaces, PPE and hazardous materials
• Coordinate employee safety training, certifications and onboarding programs
• Monitor compliance with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations
• Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and workplace inspections
• Prepare safety reports, monitor incident trends and communicate findings to management
• Support contractor safety programs and ensure visitors follow site safety requirements
• Assist with environmental compliance activities, including air emissions, hazardous materials and environmental monitoring
• Work directly with supervisors and employees to encourage safer work practices throughout the facility

Qualifications

• Experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment is essential
• Post secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related discipline
• Strong working knowledge of Ontario OHSA and workplace safety regulations
• Experience conducting incident investigations, workplace inspections and risk assessments
• Familiarity with industrial safety programs involving LOTO, cranes, mobile equipment, confined spaces and hazardous materials
• Joint Health & Safety Committee Management Certification, or willingness to obtain it
• CRSP designation or actively working toward certification is a strong asset
• Comfortable delivering safety training to employees and speaking in front of groups
• Strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting documentation
• Experience in steel manufacturing, metal processing, foundries, heavy equipment or other demanding industrial environments would be particularly valuable.
