Job summary

Vancouver Convention Centre invites applications for Senior Manager, Event Operations. You will lead the Event Operations Team, set priorities, and drive delivery of complex events from planning through execution, ensuring exceptional client experiences.

The role partners with the Senior Manager, Events and other departments to align hospitality, operations, and business goals, while leveraging feedback and continuous improvement to enhance tools, workflows, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 10-13 years of progressive leadership experience in events/venues.
• Experience managing diverse, complex events in convention centres or similar.
• Lead operational excellence in fast-paced, customer-focused settings.
• People-first leadership with coaching and succession planning.
• Strong collaboration across teams, departments and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, people-centered leadership for the Event Operations Team.
• Shape long-term operational strategies, tools, processes, and staffing.
• Collaborate on workforce planning and service delivery models.
• Serve as SME on venue capabilities with BD and Event Planning teams.
• Act as liaison between Event Operations and internal departments.
• Ensure smooth transitions from planning to delivery with Events team.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders including City of Vancouver Office.
• Escalate and resolve complex operational challenges balancing priorities.
• Develop and maintain client-facing materials and resources.
• Analyze performance and implement continuous improvements.
• Advance accessibility, inclusion, sustainability, safety, and hospitality.
• Represent the Centre in industry networks and external groups.
