Job summary

City of Brantford seeks a Director of Development Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for engineering reviews, approvals, and inspections for new developments. The role focuses on strategic growth, policy implementation, and customer-focused service delivery.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer with Ontario experience, strong leadership, and a track record in municipal development processes.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering required; Masters preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive senior management experience; Ontario context preferred.
• PE license with Professional Engineers of Ontario; PMP certification is an asset.
• Knowledge of development engineering review, approvals and inspection processes; municipal government administration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Development Engineering Section within the Community Development Commission, advancing applications for new development.
• Ensure compliance with Provincial and Federal statutes, regulations, municipal by-laws and policies.
• Provide professional engineering advice and reports to Council and Committees; exercise delegated authorities for engineering approvals.
• Develop and monitor budgets; lead staff, provide coaching and performance management.
• Establish priorities for annual work programs and ensure timely development approvals.
