Development Engineering plays a key role in the review and approval of development applications, including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Site Plan Controls, Plans of Subdivision and Consents. The review focuses on the municipal engineering aspects of the applications - site servicing, stormwater management, site grading, and site access.

In addition, Development Engineering is instrumental in evaluating infrastructure improvements required to support growth, negotiating complex arrangements with landowners and developers, and securing conditions of approval through development agreements to facilitate the construction and delivery of development-related municipal infrastructure.

Reporting to the Project Director in the Engineering Review Section, the Manager of Development Engineering provides the technical, financial, and administrative oversight needed to effectively and successfully manage a team of professionals to provide engineering review and approval of the municipal engineering component of planning applications.

  • Manage the review, approval and enforcement of engineering, servicing, legal and cost-sharing agreements associated with land development.
