The Opportunity

As a Hazmat Responder, you will join the Field Operations Team in our Response Division, providing impeccable service to a dynamic group of companies. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the safe handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials. You should have a high degree of mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and excellent problem-solving skills. Our projects are diverse and located in various areas; therefore, flexibility to relocate frequently is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead team members on job sites effectively.
  • Perform hazardous material spill response and cleanup activities following established protocols and regulations.
  • Operate specialized equipment and tools used in hazmat cleanup and containment safely.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine the nature and extent of hazardous materials present.
  • Implement appropriate containment, mitigation, and disposal procedures to minimize environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergency response situations.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials handled, actions taken, and cleanup processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with hazmat regulations and best practices.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of hazmat response equipment.
Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Clean Driver's Abstract
  • Prior experience in handling hazardous materials, spill response, or related fields (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local hazardous materials regulations
  • Must reside within 30 minutes of Leduc Shop
Compensation & Schedule
  • Hourly wage: $35-$40 based on experience
  • Overtime eligible
  • Full-time schedule with day and night shifts, on-call, and travel required
