The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for preserving the excellent condition and functionality of the premises. Reporting to the Senior Building Operator, Community Manager, and assisting the janitorial staff, the Maintenance Assistant's duties will include conducting elevator monitoring services, janitorial services, inspections, garbage and recycling programs, changing light bulbs, minor repairs, snow removal, and providing exceptional customer service to clients.

Our ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of maintenance requirements, as well as basic tools and equipment. To excel in this position, you must have a positive attitude, keen organizational skills, be eager to please, and enjoy an active and rewarding career.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Complete elevator monitoring services for the freight elevator for all move-ins/outs & deliveries (average 20 hours per week).
  • Provide orientation of the loading dock and fill out condition checklists.
  • Complete garbage and recycling disposal 5 times a week.
  • Conduct inspections on all site mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment.
  • Inspect amenity rooms before and after bookings, ensuring the condition is documented.
  • Pad elevators for use during moves.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Meet contractors on site, providing access and orientation to the property.
  • Review mechanical rooms and hazardous locations regularly.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and security procedures and report concerns.
  • Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies.
  • Provide coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience :
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general maintenance in residential, commercial, or retail environments preferred.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.

  • Fluent in English.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Great time management and prioritization skills.
  • Team player and collaborative worker.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude, willing to work overtime and respond to emergencies.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment :
  • Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Use of a computer.
