Job summary

Clean Harbors in Nisku, AB is seeking a Hazardous Waste Specialist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect hazardous waste in accordance with regulations. This role involves working indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, and customer sites, including HHW collections and lab moves.

It is a customer-facing position; training of 2–3 months out of Red Deer, AB is required. Competitive wages and strong benefits are offered after 30 days of full-time employment.

Qualifications

• College degree in chemistry or applicable experience required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods strongly preferred.
• Experience in Environmental Services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle, segregate, pack, and inspect hazardous waste per regulations.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, votes, and disposal notices.
• Inspect staging areas and drums for leaks and compliance.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal safely and efficiently.
• Follow site health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Interview customers and assist with lab packs and HHW moves.
• Ensure drum counts and labeling comply with company policies.
• Perform duties indoors and outdoors at various customer sites.
