Job description

About Us:

At Reusables, we’re driven by a vision of a waste-free world and recognize the urgent need to address the environmental impact of our current systems and habits. We believe that meaningful change requires institutions to offer frictionless systems that make sustainability effortless and tangible.

What began as a grassroots initiative offering reusable takeout containers to restaurants and cafes in Vancouver, has since grown into an enterprise technology platform reaching institutions across North America. Today, Reusables is helping to eliminate thousands of tons of single-use waste each year, empowering businesses to join the journey toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.

As a venture-backed and mission-driven company, we are passionate about making impact at scale. We are a young, weirdly talented group of ‘high-octane’ individuals that are relentlessly focused on the planet, people, and profit – in that order.

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Hardware Technician to support the procurement, assembly, and testing of IoT devices and related hardware. This role involves sourcing components, assembling and testing products, maintaining lab organization, and ensuring high-quality standards. If you have a hands-on approach, a passion for hardware, and strong organizational skills, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Be Doing:

Materials Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source and purchase components and materials for hardware production.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to manage lead times and deliveries.
  • Track inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock for production needs.

Hardware Assembly

  • Assist in assembling IoT devices and related hardware components.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions while maintaining quality and precision.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any assembly issues that arise.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct functional and performance testing on hardware products.
  • Document and report test results, identifying any quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve product performance.

Lab Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient hardware lab.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of procurement, assembly, and testing activities.
  • Provide regular updates on project status and supply chain challenges.
What You’ll Bring To The Team:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a hardware, electronics, or manufacturing role.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and schematics.
  • Hands-on approach with a keen eye for detail.

Please note: This is an in-office position working from our beautiful office in Downtown Vancouver.

Compensation: $52,000 - $74,000 + Stock Options

If your background doesn’t perfectly align with the qualifications listed, but you’re confident in your ability to excel in this role, we still want to hear from you! At Reusables, we value diverse experiences and unique perspectives, so don’t hesitate to apply if you believe you can make a meaningful impact.

We sincerely appreciate the time and effort of all applicants who express interest in joining our team. While we carefully review each application, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Thank you for considering Reusables as your next career opportunity!

Why Join Us:

The ocean already contains 165 million tonnes of plastic. By 2050, plastic in the ocean will outweigh fish. In that same year, GHG emissions associated with plastic production, use and disposal, would account for 15% of allowed emissions as per the Paris Agreement. Recycling is the current solution to single-use plastic, however only 5% of plastic is recycled in the U.S. (9% in Canada). Governments around the world are banning single-use plastics and leading businesses have made commitments to eliminate packaging waste across their product offerings by 2030. Experts have proven reusable packaging in a circular economy to be the most environmentally sustainable option. However, food businesses, our primary target market, are facing a major challenge in the adoption of reusables: the costs and complexity associated with offering reusable packaging on their own are untenable. For consumers, there currently is no mainstream option for reusable packaging.

The ocean already contains 165 million tonnes of plastic, and by 2050, plastic waste could outweigh fish. While recycling is often touted as the solution, only 5% of plastic is actually recycled in the U.S. (9% in Canada). Governments and businesses worldwide are banning single-use plastics and committing to zero-waste solutions by 2030.

Reusable packaging is the most sustainable alternative, but adoption has been hindered by cost and operational complexity. Reusables.com removes these barriers, offering a scalable, tech-enabled solution for food businesses.

DEI Statement:

At Reusables, we are building products for a diverse world, and we need a diverse team to do that successfully. We strongly encourage applications from everyone regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.

Accessibility Statement:

Reusables provides an accessible candidate experience. If you need any accommodations or adjustments throughout the interview process and beyond, please let us know, and we will work with you to provide the necessary support and make reasonable accommodations to facilitate your participation.
