Job description

Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Field IT Technician in San Jose, CA. It is a contract position with6 months to start, with strong potential for extension.They will use their home as a base and travel to company sites in the surrounding region. The role is primarily on-site (at least 4 days / week) and offers benefits!

  • Travel locally to assigned client sites to provide IT support and hardware servicing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PCs, laptops, printers, servers, and mobile devices.
  • Handle IT moves, adds, and changes, including installation and configuration of equipment.
  • Perform basic networking tasks including cabling and troubleshooting connectivity.
  • Collaborate with the network team and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Set up and support MFA and mobile devices (phones and tablets).
  • Provide friendly, responsive customer service to on-site staff.
  • Create, manage, and resolve service tickets with attention to priority and impact.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activities and installations.
  • 3+ years of IT support or desktop support experience.
  • Strong hardware / software troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic networking knowledge and ability to perform cabling tasks.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Office 365 (O365).
  • Experience with mobile device setup and MFA.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

Physical & Travel Requirements :

  • Travel between sites with mileage reimbursed at current IRS rate.
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs. (e.g., laptops, printers).
  • Frequent walking, bending, and working in potentially loud or dusty environments.
  • Initial training week (first week of employment) to be held in San Jose, CA — flight, lodging, and meals fully reimbursed.
