Job summary

Venture is a growing IT managed service provider in Markham, Ontario. We are seeking an L1 Hardware Support Technician to diagnose and repair hardware on PC and Apple devices, configure Windows and Mac setups, and support clients onsite and in-lab.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of hardware diagnostics and repair on PC and Apple devices.
  • Knowledge of PC hardware and Microsoft operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 and VPN applications.
  • Knowledge of printer hardware and drivers is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve tickets within SLA targets.
  • Diagnose and replace major hardware components for Windows and Mac devices.
  • Maintain Apple and Lenovo certifications and training.
  • Configure Windows and Mac setups for clients.
  • Work onsite at client sites and in the in-lab at Venture's office.
  • Coordinate with vendors and third parties as needed.
  • Document progress and resolution notes for billing/review.
  • Act as liaison between account and technical teams as required.
  • Support team to achieve client satisfaction and service targets.

The Role

We're currently looking for an L1 Hardware Support Technician to join our team! This opportunity is ideal if you're someone who wants to grow your career as an IT expert, enjoys geeking out on the latest tech hardware/software releases, and are passionate about helping others.

What you'll be doing
  • Diagnosing and resolving tickets within client service level agreement time frame
  • Diagnosing and replacing major hardware components for standard Windows and Apple devices
  • Maintaining all required Apple & Lenovo certifications and training programs
  • Configuring and customizing Windows and Mac setups for clients
  • Performing the above functions onsite at client sites and in-lab at Venture's office
  • Managing communication between vendors and other third-parties as required
  • Documenting ticket progress and resolution notes for client billing or review
  • Acting as the liaison between the account and technical team to clients when required
  • Meeting client service level agreement targets while maintaining a high level of client service
  • Supporting technician and account teams to ensure client satisfaction
  • Working with the team lead to identify opportunities to improve our hardware repair team
  • Performing other tasks, based on management requirements
What are the requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in a hardware technician role diagnosing and repairing hardware issues in PC and Apple devices
  • Support knowledge of PC hardware, Microsoft operating systems and knowledge of standard business software such as Office 365 and VPN applications
  • Support knowledge of printer hardware and printer related software such as printer drivers
  • Support knowledge of iOS and MacOS devices, as well as iOS/MacOS troubleshooting
  • Knowledge and experience performing PCB repairs is considered an asset
  • Strong client service skills – communication and problem solving
  • Ability to work with non-technical users - simplifying complex information
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver's license is required
  • This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday 9AM-5:30PM
