Job description

The design engineering group provides complete end-to-end product development solutions to a variety of customers. These product solutions include development of test and measurement modules, 4&5G macro frequency variants, optical modules, etc. The team delivers project solutions from concept definition through to volume manufacturing.

The design team is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer. Responsibilities include the execution of complex radio and electro optical systems design. The candidate will be expected collaborate with a cross function product development team.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform debug and bring up of engineering PCB prototypes in a lab environment.
  • Execute schematic capture and implement PCB layouts, including the creation of component symbols and footprints.
  • Assist in design and implementation of timing and clock harnessing power supplies, digital front ends interconnections, etc.
  • Complete simulations of active bias power supplies and other complex analog circuits.
  • Perform signal integrity simulations and oversee implementation into layout of high speed digital and high frequency analog signal paths
  • Develop system power trees and DC power budgets.
  • Develop verification test plans and execute the tests.
  • Develop software scripts to automate data processing and repetitive testing.
  • Oversee NPI builds, monitor yields and defined corrective actions to improve product yield and manufacturability.
  • As part of integrated product development team, participate in every phase of product development, including requirements definition, architecture and concept definition, specification and selection of components, control and monitoring requirements, algorithm definition, detailed implementation, integration and characterization.
Education and Experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering design capacity.
  • Understanding of analog and digital electronics is required.
  • Experience with PCB development and understanding of PCB constraints is required.
  • Experience with circuit simulation tools such as Spice, Hyperlynx, ADS suite or equivalent is required.
  • Understanding of advance timing, clock synchronization and harnessing techniques is an asset.
  • Programming experience in Matlab, C++, Python an asset.
  • CPLD and FPGA development experience is considered an asset.
