Job summary

Expert Executive Recruiters (EER Global) is seeking a General Manager to establish, lead and grow its Canadian defense operations in Ottawa. This role focuses on transforming the Canadian entity into an autonomous defense business, capable of pursuing programs with the government and major OEMs.

The ideal candidate will have proven Canadian/U.S. defense program management experience, a strong government network, and the ability to build an organization in a developing market.

Qualifications

• Experience in Canadian/US defense program management.
• Strong network within Canadian Government, Canadian Armed Forces and defense industry.
• Citizenship required; active security clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and growth of Canada's defense operations.
• Establish capabilities, infrastructure and personnel to support future programs.
• Manage Canadian operation as a P&L center and drive long-term growth.
• Support registrations with Canadian governmental and procurement bodies.
• Develop relationships with defence OEMs, shipyards and subcontractors.
• Represent the organization at defense industry events and conferences.
• Align Canadian customer requirements with international engineering and leadership teams.
• Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations for the Canadian defense market.
• Support proposals, business development activities and contract negotiations.
• Execute Canadian programs as the organization grows.
