In the role of Group Underwriter, you will work with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross achieves its financial targets on the group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Establish renewal pricing, including analysis of experience/trends to justify renewal reasons and recommend pricing options. Respond to client inquiries regarding pricing and experience.
2. Set rates for new group business and respond to financial questions within specifications.
3. Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups according to financial agreements.
4. Draft and update financial agreements.
5. Ensure underwriting targets for growth and profitability are met.
6. Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
7. Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Case Management, Group Admin), agents, brokers, consultants, and policyholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary education
• Work Experience: Minimum of two years in Group Underwriting
• Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
• Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
• Other Qualifications: Ability to work in a team environment, strong communication skills, self-directed with high accountability, excellent reasoning and decision-making skills, strong analytical skills with high attention to detail, excellent time management, and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
