Job Summary

In the role of Group Underwriter, you will collaborate with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross meets its financial targets on the group health, life, and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish renewal pricing, including analyzing experience/trends to justify renewal decisions and recommend pricing alternatives. Respond to client inquiries regarding pricing and experience.
  2. Set rates for new group business and address financial questions within specified guidelines.
  3. Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups according to financial agreements.
  4. Draft and update financial agreements.
  5. Ensure underwriting targets for growth and profitability are achieved.
  6. Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
  7. Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Case Management, Group Admin), agents, brokers, consultants, and policyholders.
Qualifications
  1. Education: Post-secondary education.
  2. Work Experience: Minimum of two years in Group Underwriting.
  3. Computer Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  4. Language Skills: Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
  5. Other Qualifications: Ability to work in a team environment, strong communication skills, self-motivated with high accountability, excellent judgment, strong analytical skills with attention to detail, and effective time management in a fast-paced setting.
