Leavens Auto Group is seeking a hands-on, experienced Human Resources Manager to lead HR and recruitment across our dealership group in London, Ontario. This is a full-time, in-office role with travel among locations.

You will work directly with executive leadership to provide practical HR guidance, lead full-cycle recruitment, maintain documentation, and drive people-process improvements across the group.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive, broad-based HR experience
  • Demonstrated full-cycle recruitment experience
  • Experience in stand-alone HR roles or highly autonomous environments
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment standards and human-rights obligations
  • Experience coordinating health-and-s safety processes is an asset
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, and communication
  • Ability to work with executives, managers, and employees
  • Experience in automotive retail or multi-site operations is an asset

This is the organization’s sole in-house HR role—a hands-on leadership position responsible for HR and recruitment across the dealership group. The successful candidate will work directly with executive leadership, General Managers, department leaders, employees, and candidates to provide practical HR guidance, lead full-cycle recruitment, maintain sound employment practices, and improve people processes across the group.

Leavens Auto Group operates five dealership locations in London and one location in the Windsor/Tecumseh area. This is a full-time, in-office position; remote or work-from-home arrangements are not available. Regular travel among London locations and periodic travel to Windsor/Tecumseh are required.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR advisor to executives, General Managers, department managers, and employees.
  • Provide practical guidance on employee relations, performance management, attendance, conduct, accommodations, leaves, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns.
  • Prepare employment offers, agreements, amendments, compensation-change letters, probation documentation, performance documentation, and other HR correspondence.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for approved vacancies, including job intake, posting development, sourcing, screening, candidate communication, interview coordination, reference checks, offers, and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to improve hiring quality, interview consistency, candidate experience, and timely hiring decisions.
  • Maintain HR policies, templates, employee records, compliance calendars, onboarding processes, and reporting.
  • Coordinate and oversee HR-related occupational health and safety compliance across the dealership group, including training and certification tracking, required documentation, incident reporting and follow-up, safety-meeting/JHSC or representative processes where applicable, corrective-action tracking, and compliance calendars.
  • Identify recurring HR, recruitment, retention, documentation, and manager-accountability issues and implement practical improvements.

Partner with executive leadership and managers to strengthen a positive, accountable, respectful, and consistent workplace culture across all dealership locations.

Identify practical opportunities to improve employee engagement, communication, onboarding, recognition, retention, and manager effectiveness.

Develop and test proactive recruitment strategies beyond job postings, including employee referrals, candidate pipelines, direct sourcing, school/trade-program relationships, industry networks, social media, re-engagement of past applicants, and selective agency partnerships.

What you bring
