Job summary

Canada Life in Winnipeg, MB seeks a Group Disability Data Analytics Specialist to transform complex disability morbidity data into actionable insights. You will analyze trends, report findings to senior leadership, and drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The role focuses on improving operational and financial understanding through advanced analytics and storytelling. The position requires 3+ years in analytics, proficiency in Excel/Access, and experience with SQL/Python/R

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in analytics, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Post-secondary education with exposure to data science and/or statistical concepts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Experience with data tools such as SQL, Python/R, Power BI, or Tableau is an asset.
  • Knowledge of group insurance and disability products is an asset.
  • Experience in project planning and execution is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Group Disability Data Analytics Specialist

Description: Permanent Full Time

If you’re someone who often asks “why,” this role may be a great fit. The Disability Data & Analysis team is seeking a naturally curious and analytically driven individual who can navigate complex data and uncover meaningful insights.

As a Data Analytics Specialist, you will apply strong analytical, technical, and critical thinking skills to explore data, identify trends, and deliver insights that enhance decision-making and improve business performance. You will play a key role in supporting operational and financial understanding through data. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will refine existing analyses and explore new methodologies to better support organizational leaders.

What you will do:

Analyze, Report, and Present Disability Morbidity Results

  • Deliver regular trending and variance analyses to support understanding of key disability morbidity KPIs
  • Collaborate with Group Division partners to leverage multiple data sources and assess operational impacts on financial results
  • Fulfill complex analytical requests from senior leadership, providing clear and actionable insights on business performance

  • Partner with business leaders to proactively identify opportunities for advanced analytics and data-driven solutions
  • Plan, manage, and execute a range of analytical projects using strong project management practices
  • Apply the analytics lifecycle to design, develop, and maintain advanced analytical models
  • Enhance data quality by conducting data profiling and identifying gaps or inconsistencies in key data sources
Insights and Storytelling
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights tailored to the audience
  • Present findings, trends, and model performance to senior management, supporting informed decision-making
What you bring:
  • 3+ years of experience in analytics, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making
  • Post-secondary education with exposure to data science and/or statistical concepts
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access
  • Experience with data tools such as SQL, Python/R, Power BI, or Tableau is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of group insurance and disability products is an asset
  • Experience in project planning and execution is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance– this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that isrequiredas a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by theGovernment of Canada website. The cost ofsubmittingthese checks will be covered by Canada Life.

The base salary for this position is between $59,800 - $99,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
