Job summary

Canada Life in Langley, BC seeks a Team Manager, Disability Intervention Services to supervise a team of Rehabilitation Consultants, ensuring high quality, cost-effective service delivery. You will coach staff, recruit, and mentor, while aligning plans with claims philosophy and national initiatives.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and a valid driver’s license, with security clearance as needed across Canada Life operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in a discipline related to vocational rehabilitation/rehabilitation counseling or experience in disability management as in a licensed health care provider.
• Five to seven years’ experience in the insurance rehabilitation or the field of disability management.
• CCRC or RRP designation or pursuing a designation.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle are necessary when required to travel to client meetings and for operational oversight.
• Reliability Status security clearance - this is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected Binformation, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the day to day services provided by the team of Rehabilitation and Medical Consultants.
• Coaching, supervision, and performance management of the Rehabilitation and Medical Consultants and on the team.
• Recruiting of new staff, and oversight of new staff development throughout the orientation, training and mentoring period.
• Assessment of individual staff development needs on an ongoing basis.
• Acting as a technical expert to the team on medical coordination and disability management issues.
• Ensuring that the Rehabilitation and Medical Consultants understand and follow Canada Life's claims philosophy and practices.
• Assisting the Rehabilitation and Medical Consultants to develop realistic, cost-effective plans.
• Reviewing and approving the Rehabilitation and Medical Consultant's plans/expenses according to the authority approval process.
• Ensuring effectiveness of the quality program which involves the completion of Quality Program reviews (assessing plan cost effectiveness, timeliness, and duration of interventions by local Rehabilitation and Medical Consultants’); and identifying areas of development that require further coaching.
• Monitoring data and reports on Disability Intervention Services effectiveness and individual results related to service standards.
• Communicating new initiatives affecting the Disability Intervention Services and Disability Management Service organizations.
• Working in collaboration with all staff of the Disability Management Services Office, as well as the staff from the Group Sales Office.
• Participating in the delivery of joint training (along with Disability Management Services Office management) regarding national initiatives impacting claims and Disability Intervention Services.
• Promoting/supporting return to employability meetings within the Disability Management Services Office management team.
• Promoting Disability Intervention Services with customers and managing the customer/client relationships affiliated with the Disability Management Services claims operation.
• Providing input into issues as a member of the Disability Intervention Services management team.

We are looking for aTeam Manager, Disability Intervention Services.

The base salary for this position is between $71,900 - $119,800 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
