Job summary

Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario is seeking a Groomer I for the winter season. This entry-level role operates groomer equipment to maintain ski and snowboard terrain to high standards during overnight shifts from December through March.

You will primarily groom green and blue runs, assist senior staff, perform pre-shift checks, and report equipment issues while collaborating with on-hill teams. A valid G license and ability to work independently are required; prior grooming is an asset.

  • Valid G License in good standing.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Previous grooming experience an asset.
  • Mechanical skills an asset.
  • Knowledge of Resort winter terrain an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Groom primarily green and blue runs and assist senior groomers on difficult terrain.
  • Perform pre-shift checks and post-shift housekeeping and paperwork.
  • Report equipment issues and property damage.
  • Work with GPS systems to improve decision making and efficiency.
  • Report or repair safety issues such as lighting, signs, padding and surfaces.
  • Maintain open communication with on-hill teams including Snowmaking and Patrol.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Groomer I is an entry level slope grooming position. This position is responsible for using groomer equipment and techniques that are essential to maintaining ski and snowboard terrain at Blue Mountain Resort on time and to the highest standards.

  • Groom primarily green and blue runs and at times assist Groomer Operators - II, Team Leads and Managers on Duty with more difficult terrain and builds
  • Perform pre shift circle checks and paperwork - post shift duties including housekeeping duties and mandatory paperwork
  • Recognize and report equipment issues and property damage
  • Work with a GPS system to improve decision making and increase efficiency
  • Recognize and report or repair potential safety issues including but not limited to lighting, signage, padding and/or poor skiing/snowboarding surfaces
  • Maintain a good working relationships and open communication with Snowmaking, Slope Maintenance, Patrol, Lifts, Terrain Park, Events and other on-hill staff
