Job summary

Calgary Co-op in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Grocery Utility Clerk to maintain customer service and an efficient operation while adhering to company policies. This role reports to the Grocery Supervisor/Manager and covers stocking, displays, pricing, and general department upkeep. Ideal candidates have Grade 9 or equivalent and related retail experience.

Qualifications

• Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Related retail experience including customer service.
• Must be fluent in English.
• Receiving and product knowledge / experience.
• Knowledge of ordering merchandise and supplies and related procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and maintain positive customer relations through proper handling of questions, comments, requests and complaints.
• Stock, build displays and face shelves; maintain stock levels in dairy, freezer, grocery and warehouse areas.
• Handle merchandise, ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns; provide substitutions and price integrity.
• Perform cleaning duties to keep sales floor and back stock area neat and organized; dispose of cardboard and debris.
• Follow Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies for staff and customers.
• Ensure proper care, use and maintenance of equipment; report repairs to supervisor or manager.
• Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
• Responsible for all aspects of receiving including invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage.
• Assist in organizing and conducting inventory.
• Assists in other departments and trains others in Grocery Utility Clerk duties.
