Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is hiring a Grocery Department Associate to support retail services for CAF members. You will help with merchandising, stocking, stock receiving, and ensuring accurate shelf labeling and pricing.

You will assist with bagging groceries, carrying merchandise, and maintain clean shelves and receiving areas, contributing to a collaborative, frontline team environment that serves the CAF community.

Qualifications

• An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience in a grocery store or similar environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with merchandising and stocking sections of the grocery store.
• Receive stock and verify shipments for damages or shortages.
• Record temperature readings on refrigeration equipment and flag spoilage or expired products.
• Bag groceries, help customers, return shopping carts, and maintain store cleanliness.

THE ROLE

As a Grocery Department Associate, you help support the provision of retail services to a unique client base - members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and in assisting them, you are helping your community. You assist with merchandising and stocking sections of the grocery store, ensuring shelf label retail prices are correct. You assist in receiving stock, verifying shipments for damages or shortages. You record temperature readings on refrigeration equipment and inform your supervisor of any food spoilage or expired products.

The Grocery Department Associate assists with bagging customers’ groceries and carrying out of merchandise. You return shopping carts to the store interior and remove snow and ice from walkways and loading areas. You ensure shelves and grocery store areas are clean and merchandise in receiving areas and warehouse are secure.
