Job summary

Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre in Vancouver is seeking a Grants & Impact Specialist to develop, write, and manage grant proposals, contracts, and reports to sustain and expand DEWC’s funding base. This role ensures compliance with funding agreements and strengthens our ability to measure and communicate impact to funders.

  • Must have at least 3 years fund development experience including grant & report writing.
  • Knowledge of non-profit financial and account operations including budget creation.
  • Knowledge of issues impacting women in the DTES, including gender-based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions.
  • Excellent administrative skills, and efficient organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and manage grant proposals, contracts, and reports to sustain and expand DEWC’s funding base.
  • Ensure compliance with government and foundation funding agreements and measure/communicate impact to funders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather data, outcomes, and stories illustrating DEWC’s impact.
  • Report to the Director of Fund Development & Communications and work from a feminist, anti-oppression framework.

About DEWC

The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) exists to support and empower women and children, living in extreme poverty in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, who are particularly vulnerable to violence, exploitation, injustice and injury. Through low barrier Drop-In Centers and Emergency Shelters, DEWC provides basic need services, programs, and specialized supports to over 1000 women and children daily to help them survive the conditions that surround them. The Opportunity

The Grants & Impact Specialist is responsible for developing, writing, and managing grant proposals, contracts, and reports to sustain and expand DEWC’s funding base. This role ensures compliance with all government and foundation funding agreements, and strengthens DEWC’s ability to measure, communicate, and demonstrate impact to funders and the broader community. Reporting to the Director of Fund Development & Communications, the Specialist works collaboratively with internal teams to gather data, outcomes, and stories that illustrate the transformative work of DEWC. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

About You
  • Must have at least 3 years fund development experience including grant & report writing.
  • You are knowledgeable of non-profit financial and account operations including budget creation.
  • You will promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. You are knowledgeable of the issues impacting women in the DTES, including gender-based violence, mental health, homelessness, and addictions.
  • You have excellent administrative skills,
  • You have efficient organizational skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.
