Job summary

Autism Services is seeking a hardworking Lead Maintenance & Plant Operator to join our grain processing facility. The role involves leading maintenance, operating grain handling equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

You will work outdoors and indoors, handling conveyors, augers, dryers, and elevators, while monitoring storage conditions and following lockout/tagout and PPE protocols. Class 1A is an asset; extended hours may be required during peak seasons.

Qualifications

• Lead facility maintenance, repairs and housekeeping.
• Operate grain-handling equipment including conveyors, augers, dryers and elevators.
• Monitor and maintain grain storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination.
• Follow safety guidelines including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Load and unload rail cars.
• Comfortable with heights and elevated structures.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Class 1A license is an asset.
• Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends during peak seasons.
• Indoor and outdoor work in all weather.
• Exposure to dust, grain and loud machinery.

This role involves handling, processing, and storing grain, as well as maintaining and ensuring safety procedures are followed. The ideal candidate is comfortable working at heights, in outdoor conditions, and in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Take the lead in facility maintenance, repairs and housekeeping.
• Operate grain-handling equipment, including conveyors, augers, dryers, and elevators
• Monitor and maintain grain storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination
• Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines, including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Load and unload rail cars
• Comfortable with heights and working on elevated structures
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations
• Class 1A an asset
• Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and overtime, during peak seasons
