Job summary

Great Western Malting is seeking an Elevator Operator to join our team in Alberta. You will be responsible for receiving and load out of grain in a safe, efficient, and traceable manner, with duties including binning and tracing grain varieties.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong mechanical aptitude, and good written communication. You may travel between site locations and contribute to elevator maintenance and housekeeping while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in grain handling or food processing is an asset.
• Strong mechanical aptitude from apprenticeship or related experience.
• Safety training is an asset.
• Excellent communication and written skills.
• Ability to work alone or in a group.
• Positive attitude and self-starter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Elevator Manager, the Elevator Operator is responsible for receiving and load out of grain in a safe, efficient, and traceable manner.

• Bin grain varieties and trace
• Loadout grain varieties and trace
• Safe operations in all weather conditions
• Elevator maintenance and housekeeping
• Other routine duties as assigned
• Some travel between sites may be required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in grain handling, food processing or manufacturing considered an asset.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude through apprenticeship or job related experience.
• Previous safety training an asset.
• Excellent communication and written skills.
• Ability to work alone or in a group.
• Positive attitude and self-starter

EDUCATION

• High school diploma. Preference will be given to those applicants with post-secondary education
