Job summary

Arup in Toronto is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer available in 2027 to join our built environment team. You will design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems with a focus on sustainable design, collaborate across disciplines, and model in Revit MEP while performing energy analyses.

You’ll develop feasibility studies, communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences, and contribute to projects from concept through to delivery in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, architectural engineering, or building sciences related engineering degree.
• Coursework in heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid dynamics or HVAC design.
• Developing curiosity about the built environment.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way.
• Attitude of taking initiative, passion, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed for team-based working.
• Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for sophisticated buildings
• Perform engineering analysis and modelling, including whole building load calculations and energy analysis, façade thermal analysis, and airflow modelling
• Model mechanical pipework, ductwork, and plant within Revit MEP, and carry out engineering calculations and analysis
• Communicate technical ideas to a broad range of audiences using various formats, including presentations and workshops
• Write reports detailing calculation methods and results, design assumptions, and other technical information
• The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and outstanding organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
• Influence with design on sustainable outcome for our clients to align with Arup’s sustainability commitments
