Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment IT Operations is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to maintain Gaming Management database systems and services in line with design specs, policies, and procedures. You will ensure uptime, security, and reliability across GMS components.

Under the Manager, IT Operations, you will manage OS lifecycles, AD, backups, disaster recovery, and incident response while collaborating with IT customers to keep systems healthy and compliant.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or college diploma with concentration in computer technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ Systems Administration experience. 2 years’ Gaming Management Systems experience (preferred).
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective, and service oriented communication.
  • Experience with backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Experience with database security and access control.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization. Understanding of systems and Game Management systems (GMS) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install and upgrade server components and software.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by performing diagnostic testing.
  • Document problems and solutions appropriately.
  • Perform backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection and disaster recovery.
  • Provide support of assigned systems through troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software, and connectivity problems.
  • Maintain assigned systems including customization, configuration, installation, and testing.
  • Act as a knowledge expert for GMS and distributed systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with IT customers to ensure issues related to assigned systems are communicated appropriately.
  • Perform vulnerability management and patching across all GMS systems.
  • Coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the GMS systems and operations to ensure operational continuity.
  • Monitor daily work assignments, priorities, and progress to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to team members as needed to resolve operational issues.

Day-to-Day Operations
  • Coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the GMS systems and operations to ensure operational continuity.
  • Monitor daily work assignments, priorities, and progress to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to team members as needed to resolve operational issues.
  • Coordinate task assignments and follow up on ongoing work to meet operational and project objectives.
  • Share knowledge and assist with onboarding and cross-training to improve team effectiveness.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of systems, infrastructure, applications, architecture, and other technical components to verify system health, identify improvement opportunities, and maintain high availability and uptime.
Support
  • Provides 1st and 2nd level technical support for designated applications including associated technical troubleshooting, analysis and research.
  • Works closely with end users, vendors and technical teams on troubleshooting and issues resolution activities.
  • Administer systems and applications including security and perform associated reconciliation and validation to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor systems and application performance, stability and licensing compliance.
  • Assists in the review and modeling of business processes and requirements gathering as needed
  • Ensures data completeness, integrity, and security through validation, monitoring, and governance practices.
  • Creates documentation and provides support to help others understand and use the data infrastructure effectively.
  • Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the GMS systems according to regulator jurisdiction standards or requirements, industry standards, and best practices. Design, implement, and support operations and problem-solving systems and applications using internal and third-party tools.
Design And Projects
  • Design, data modeling, architecture, performance tuning, testing, and support of problem-solving systems. Demonstrate ownership of the end-to-end systems Life Cycle.
  • Work on complex projects in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
  • Protect data quality and trust to ensure completeness, integrity, and security through strong validation, monitoring, and governance processes.
  • Maintain full compliance with all relevant regulations, including software licensing, health & safety standards, and other statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver fast, reliable, secure access to application and data at the right time.
  • Create clear, practical documentation and provide hands‑on support so team members and other users can confidently understand and work with GMS systems and infrastructure.
