Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment is seeking an experienced Human Resources leader to deliver HR management practices and oversee company-wide talent programs at Shorelines Casino Peterborough. This role ensures policy adherence, fosters a safe, welcoming environment, and develops strategies with senior management.

The candidate will lead HR activities including recruitment, attendance, leave management, and labour relations, with a focus on regulatory compliance and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma; post-secondary education in HR or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • HR Designation an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in human resources; 3 years in management an asset.
  • Labour Relations experience preferred.
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and JDE; HRIS experience an asset.
  • Ability to successfully obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
  • Requirement to work in office, at Shorelines Casino Peterborough.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, mentoring, performance objectives and delivery of performance evaluations for the HR team and implements HR strategic plans as directed
  • Provides HR advice and support to managers and team members
  • Manages programs such as OH&S, recruitment, attendance, on-site orientations, etc.
  • Manages the Leave of Absence files (MLOA, LTD, bereavement, maternity etc.) including return to work program and processes
  • Leads investigations into team member relations matters
  • Supports and coaches Management through effective involuntary termination processes
  • Facilitates coaching sessions, provides input for conflict resolution
  • Assists with training implementations and deliveries
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: Senior Management, Management and team members
  • Ensures the interests of employees and the company in accordance with corporate policies, laws and regulations. Ensures legal and statutory compliance with all regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the governing Employment Standards Act, Human Rights, and applicable Occupational Health & Safety laws, etc.
  • Provide advice and direction to management including collective agreement administration and interpretation, maintaining effective labour management relations, dispute resolution including grievance and arbitration processes, preparation for and participation in collective bargaining, contingency planning.
  • Manages other initiatives/duties as required
