Job summary

Ontario Public Service in Toronto is seeking a GIS Officer to deliver mapping, data, and information solutions that support environmental response. You will provide GIS analysis, automate workflows, and deliver innovative geospatial products to enhance emergency operations.

The role requires knowledge of GIS technologies, programming and automation (Python/SQL/C++/Java/.NET), and collaboration with stakeholders. This is a 12-month, temporary contract based at the Spill Action Centre.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GIS technologies, geospatial data management, spatial analysis, mapping, modelling and database management principles.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and automation tools (Python, SQL, C++, .NET, Java) and their application in tools and workflows.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure including OS, networks, security, hardware, and information management systems.
  • Skills in GIS applications, relational databases, data analysis and automated solutions to support business and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver GIS analysis, mapping, tools, applications and data solutions to support emergency operations and environmental response activities.
  • Automate workflows and create geospatial products to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and training for GIS systems and critical operational databases.

As a GIS Officer, you will deliver mapping, data, and information solutions that support ministry priorities.

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • deliver GIS analysis, mapping, tools, applications and data solutions to support emergency operations and environmental response activities
