About the job
In this role, you will:
- provide leadership and financial expertise to clients regarding financial planning and management
- review, analyze and report on budgets and provide advice
- identify financial trends, risks and opportunities; and provide reports and recommendations
- develop and implement operational and financial processes and tools to support the ministry's fiscal cycle reporting
- assist in the development and implementation of training programs, communication tools and materials
- lead and participate on cross-functional teams and projects
What you bring to the team
Financial and business planning expertise
- you have applied knowledge of modern controllership principles, business planning, performance measurement and financial management practices within a large organization
- you have proven skills in financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting
Accounting and health care knowledge
- you have applied knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and sound financial and auditing practices
- you have the ability to acquire knowledge of health care programs, delivery, and funding systems to provide financial analysis, information and advice in support of assigned program area
Communication and interpersonal skills
- you have strong oral and written communication skills to articulate and provide effective advice and consultation to management, clients and staff, while developing and maintaining productive working relationships
- you have verbal communication skills to provide clear, concise and accurate information
- you have presentation and persuasion skills to provide convincing explanations/direction on complex financial issues and processes
- you have proven writing skills to prepare complex financial analyses and reports
Research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- you have the ability to conduct complex financial analyses and conduct research for best practices
- you have the ability to analyze, interpret and assess financial information
- you can assess, interpret and apply financial directives, policies, and legislation and provide expertise to stakeholders
- you have demonstrated ability to evaluate trends, standards, and policies using different sources of information to determine impacts, develop options, and make recommendations
Project leadership, coordination and organization skills
- you have demonstrated leadership and coordination skills to manage, prioritize, and coordinate financial activities to meet deadlines
- you have leadership abilities to provide mentoring and support to staff on projects
Technical skills
- you have applied knowledge and skills in using presentation, and word processing software to prepare reports, presentations and other materials
- you have proven skills with databases and financial systems for financial analysis and reporting
