Job summary

EnVision Consultants Ltd. is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join the Geotechnical Lab in Ontario. You will manage lab testing programs, maintain CCIL/MTO certifications, coordinate with authorities, and train staff while delivering high-quality reports for diverse projects.

The ideal candidate has 4–10 years in a geotechnical lab, Ontario P.Eng. licensure, and a valid G license with vehicle. This is an employee-owned firm offering mentorship and growth opportunities.

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

As part of your role, you may expect to be involved in:

• Managing, coordinating and providing technical direction to geotechnical laboratory testing programs
• Undertaking all necessary initiatives to maintain lab certifications (CCIL, MTO) and ensure they remain in good standing
• Coordinating with authorities and preparing for new laboratory and technician certifications
• Organizing and managing equipment calibration documents as required by CCIL and MTO
• Reviewing lab test procedures to ensure they are aligned with test standards
• Generating and reviewing lab test reports on a regular basis
• Planning and establishing a lab internal audit procedure for equipment, test procedure, and personal performance
• Client communication in regard to discussing issues involving samples, test procedures, or schedules
• Providing training and support to lab technicians and new employees
• Ensuring high quality of technical work, including field methodology, reporting, and client deliverables
• Fostering an atmosphere of continuous improvement
• Proactively committing to creating a positive work environment
• Supporting and/or developing Health & Safety programs
• Collaborating with other disciplines at EnVision with respect to multi-disciplinary projects
• Travel to sites within the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario, as needed
• Any other functions assigned as part of your employment

To apply to this position, you should expect to have:

• B.Eng., M.Eng., or diploma in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering
• 4-10 years’ experience in a Geotechnical Laboratory for soil and rock
• Licensed as a P. Eng. in Ontario
• A valid G license and access to a vehicle to travel to and from sites (mileage to sites compensated), including valid and appropriate vehicle insurance
• Proven success in client relationship management and strong leadership skills
• Comfortable interacting with the public, clients, contractors, and co-workers
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues
