Job summary

GEI Consultants in Victoria, BC is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with 5–8 years of consulting experience to work on diverse projects spanning civil infrastructure, land development, and environmental sectors.

You will lead field investigations, analyze data, and prepare reports while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams. This role offers growth, a hybrid work model, and opportunities to contribute to core geotechnical design and proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering; Master’s degree considered an asset.
• Registered (or eligible for registration) as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
• 5–8 years of geotechnical engineering experience in a Canadian consulting environment.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Proficient in geotechnical software for design and analysis.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and coordinate geotechnical field investigations.
• Analyze field and laboratory data to support design recommendations.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Assist with proposals, budgets, and project scoping.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support senior engineers with technical tasks.
• Oversee work performed by junior engineers and technicians.
• Visit project sites for inspections, testing, or client meetings.
• Participate in internal team meetings and continuous improvement efforts.
• Manage project budgets and deliverables.
• Business development to expand client base.

• 5-8 years of geotechnical engineering experience, preferably within a consulting environment in Canada.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Proficient in geotechnical software for design and analysis.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage competing priorities.
• Collaborative mindset with a proactive and solution-driven approach.
• Experience supporting or leading field programs and preparing geotechnical reports.
• Comfortable interacting with clients and regulatory bodies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
