Job summary

Englobe is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to support planning, execution, analysis and reporting of geotechnical investigations. You will participate in fieldwork, lab testing programs and data interpretation under supervision, contributing to transportation, municipal and infrastructure projects.

This role offers mentorship, development toward P.E. licensure, and exposure to a variety of geotechnical tasks in a collaborative environment within Ontario.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil/Geotechnical or Geological Engineering.
• Masters' degree in geotechnical engineering is an asset.
• Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Co-op or internship experience in geotechnical consulting, construction, or materials testing is considered an asset.
• 0-4 years of solid Geotechnical engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC), Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual (CFEM), CSA standards, and MTO standards (asset).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, LPile, Slide2, Settle3, gINT, HoleBASE is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and supervise geotechnical field inspections including drilling and test pit programs.
• Conduct foundation investigations and basic shallow and deep foundation design under supervision.
• Select material samples for geotechnical laboratory testing.
• Support other project managers within the team.
• Enter and report field testing results.
• Support experienced geotechnical engineering staff as required.
• Prepare borehole logs and write factual reports.
• Liaise with subcontractors, clients and project managers.
• Attend site and office meetings.
• Apply Englobe’s health and safety policies.

The Junior Geotechnical Engineer supports the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of geotechnical investigations and engineering projects. Working under the supervision of senior staff, the successful candidate will participate in field investigations, laboratory testing programmes, data interpretation, design support, and technical report preparation for transportation, municipal, commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects.

This role provides excellent opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and progression toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensure.

Your main responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and supervise geotechnical field inspections including drilling and test pit programs;


• Conduct foundation investigations and complete basic shallow and deep foundation design under the guidance of Senior Engineers;


• Select material samples for geotechnical laboratory testing;


• Support other project managers within the team;


• Enter and report field testing results;


• Support experienced geotechnical engineering staff as required;


• Prepare borehole logs and write factual reports;


• Liaise with subcontractors, clients and project managers;


• Attend site and office meetings;


• Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety policies.

• University degree in Civil/Geotechnical or Geological Engineering;


• Completion of advanced or specialized university courses in geotechnical engineering and foundation engineering (Masters’ degree an asset);


• Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);


• Co-op or internship experience in geotechnical consulting, construction, or materials testing is considered an asset;


• 0-4 years of solid Geotechnical engineering experience;

The salary range for this position is $60,550 to $79,472 CAD base per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications, their positioning within our internal compensation structure, and relevant geographic cost-of-living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role.

Compensation may also include a comprehensive benefits package, performance incentives, or bonus eligibility depending on role level and business unit. We aim to foster transparency, respect candidate time and ensure equitable compensation aligned with our company values.
