Job summary

Orica invites applications for a Field Technician in Fort St. John, BC, within our Digital Solutions team. You will monitor a new dam structure by maintaining, troubleshooting, and collecting data from geotechnical instruments.

This fly-in/fly-out role operates on a 15 days on/12 hour days schedule with 6 days off, with travel and housing provided. You will work with Piezometers, Extensometers, Inclinometers, SAAs, and more, reporting to Project Manager/Engineer.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology or a related technical field.
Instrumentation Engineering Technology or electrical technologist experience with proven instrumentation experience.
Eligible to register with ASTTBC preferred.
Geotechnical site investigations familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

Collect manual and automated instrumentation readings and perform data checks.
Assist with installation, testing, calibration, commissioning and maintenance of geotechnical instruments and ADAS/MIMS.
Maintain and calibrate equipment.
Handle instrumentation types such as piezometers, extensometers, inclinometers, SAAs, settlement cells, and sensors.
Support documentation including installation reports and commissioning records.
Submit data in customer GIS compliant formats.
Follow installation procedures and execution plans.
Assist with commissioning/repair/decommissioning activities.
Collaborate with Project Manager/Engineer & Supervisor.
Adhere to safety protocols.
