Job summary

AGAT Laboratories in Calgary, AB is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Geotechnical Engineering to support our geotechnical laboratory operations. The successful candidate must hold a P.Eng.

designation with APEGA membership preferred. You will supervise geotechnical testing programs, analyze results, prepare reports, ensure standards compliance, and mentor junior staff while maintaining APEGA registration and professional ethics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Mandatory: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
• APEGA membership in good standing preferred.
• 2–5 years of geotechnical lab testing experience.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Supervise geotechnical laboratory testing programs (triaxial, consolidation, direct shear, permeability).
• Analyze test results and provide engineering interpretations and recommendations.
• Prepare and review laboratory reports within professional scope.
• Ensure compliance with ASTM, CSA, and internal quality standards.
• Mentor junior staff and maintain APEGA registration.
