Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Calgary seeks a Geotechnical EIT to support its geotechnical team on provincial projects with opportunities to work nationwide. You will coordinate investigations, supervise field activities and provide on-the-spot resolutions with subcontractors under the guidance of a technical lead.

The role requires a degree in geotechnical engineering, EIT eligibility with APEGA, and 1–3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Holds a bachelor's or advanced degree in Geological, Civil (with geotechnical focus) or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Is registered or eligible for registration with APEGA as Engineer-in-Training designation.
• Has 1-3 years relevant industry experience since graduation in geotechnical engineering.
• Has aptitude for leading, coordinating, managing, resolving conflicts with sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise geotechnical investigations and assessments.
• Conduct field inspections and monitoring of construction activities.
• Lead, coordinate, plan, schedule, manage and provide on-site resolutions with sub-contractors, coordinating with the technical lead.
• Undertake geotechnical assessments using GeoStudio, Rocscience and PLAXIS.
• Understand materials testing objectives, drawings and reports to support investigations and design recommendations.
• Provide guidance and troubleshooting for QC testing and performance of soils, concrete and asphalt.
• Contribute to proposals/cost estimates and participate in securing new business opportunities.
• Analyze and prepare recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, road structure design, and other geotechnical projects.
