Job summary

Winpak Ltd. in Winnipeg, MB is seeking a General Production (MBVS) to support the Automatic Wrapping station. This 12-hour shift role requires operating a sit-down forklift, loading resins and finished goods, and performing basic maintenance on packaging equipment.

You will complete line reports, follow ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards, and work across MB lines when needed. A Grade 12 diploma and a hands-on mechanical aptitude with 6+ months of tool experience are required.

Job description

The General Production (MBVS) is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Automatic Wrapping station. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor/Lead Hand, this role includes operating a sit-down forklift to unload finished products from the Auto Packaging lines, as well as loading and unloading resins and finished goods. Also they will operate stretch wrapping units and perform basic maintenance on this equipment. Lastly, this role involves operating the standalone packaging unit and replacing consumables on both Auto Packaging lines as required. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to support operations across all MB lines, including Slitters, as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Cutting:

Safely operate core cutting equipment in a relief capacity.

Cut used cores into reusable sizes as directed by the Shift Supervisor.

Review production schedules on the workstation PC.

Identify core cutting requirements based on upcoming job schedules.

Accurately record data using Excel and MES systems, and communicate updates via email to the Shift Supervisor and Manager as required.

Core Recycling:

Process pre-used cores into reusable sizes while minimizing scrap.

Coordinate with team members to plan and prioritize core cutting activities.

Stretch Wrapping & Standalone Packaging:

Replace consumables for standalone packaging equipment and Auto Packaging lines (AP1 & AP2).

Operate the standalone packaging unit as required.

Ensure all packaging equipment is used safely and effectively, including during re-wrapping activities.

Complete all required paperwork and line reporting accurately, including updates to core cutting schedules.

General Responsibilities:

REQUIRED QUALIFIATIONS

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Good aptitude for machines.
  • 6+ months of experience with hand tools, including tape measures.
  • Ability to take instruction and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good mathematical skills and ability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous related work experience preferred.
  • The General Production position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.
  • We are located in Murray Industrial Park. There are limited bus services to this location.

12-Hour Shift Rotation: (example)

  • Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 8:00-20:00 (days)
  • Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00-20:00 (days)
  • Week 3 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 20:00-8:00 (nights)
  • Week 4 - Wednesday, Thursday from 20:00-8:00 (nights)
  • Week 5 - Repeat rotation starting at week 1
