Job summary

Make Space seeks a General Manager to oversee current and future operations across British Columbia. This role reports to the Director of Operations, Western Canada, and leads performance, growth, and customer experience while upholding company standards across locations.

The GM will travel regularly between sites, manage P&L, recruit and develop teams, implement SOPs, and collaborate with marketing, real estate, and development to drive growth and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in multi-site operations (self-storage, retail, real estate, or service-based industry preferred).
• 5+ years of managing teams, preferably in a team-based environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• Drivers License and Clean Abstract.
• Experience managing full P&L responsibility across multiple locations.
• Tech Savvy - daily use of O365, SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams.

• Deliver against budgets monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Recommend and execute pricing and promotional strategies to meet revenue targets.
• Conduct regular site audits to ensure safety and service standards.
• Lead recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management across the region.
• Foster a high-performance team environment and collaboration with other teams.
• Support integration of acquired facilities and openings of new locations.

Job Summary:

The General Manager (GM) will oversee all current and future operations across British Columbia. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations, Western Canada. The GM is responsible for leading the performance, growth, and operational excellence of a portfolio of self storage assets. This role drives revenue, occupancy, and NOI while ensuring a best-in-class customer experience and consistent execution of company standards across all locations.

This role will require regular travel between locations, and a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are mandatory. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, team leadership, and an operational mindset, with the ability to identify and act on growth opportunities, streamline processes, and promote company values in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will take the initiative to review, negotiate, and implement labour and operating efficiencies and reduce expenses while adhering to company policies and procedures. They will have a positive and collaborative approach to work with other management teams to further the company's financial, cultural, marketing, and people goals.

Responsibilities:

• Lead employee recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management across the region.
• Foster a strong, performance-driven team environment focused on exceeding KPIs.
• Support the integration of acquired facilities and successful openings of new locations.
• Collaborate with marketing, real estate, and development teams to support growth initiatives.
• Identify and execute on opportunities to expand business lines or increase regional market share.
• Travel to sites regularly and represent the company at meetings or regional events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• 3 - 5+ years of experience in multi site operations (self-storage, retail, real estate, or service-based industry preferred).

Salary:

$85,000 - $100,000 CAD per year
