Job summary

Shift Auto Group’s ReCar Fredericton & Wonder Auto Avonlea is seeking a hands-on General Manager to provide leadership across Sales, Finance, Fixed Operations, Reconditioning, Inventory, Customer Experience and People Development. You will coach managers, optimize inventory turnover, and drive a high‑performing dealership culture while aligning with the group’s Purpose and Core Values.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive automotive leadership experience, with previous success as a GM, GSM, or equivalent senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-department automotive operations.
• Strong understanding of dealership financial management, inventory management, fixed operations, and sales performance.

Responsibilities

• Coaching, inspecting, problem-solving, removing operational bottlenecks, and driving execution across operations.
• Building a culture centered on accountability, teamwork, urgency, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Leading the execution of dealership sales, internet leads, showroom, phone, finance, and customer follow-up processes.
• Overseeing inventory acquisition, pricing, merchandising, aging, retail readiness, and overall inventory turn.
• Partnering with Wonder Auto leadership to maximize technician productivity and support retail service operations.
• Managing departmental expenses, staffing levels, productivity, and overall financial performance to hit annual profit targets.
• Monitoring CRM activity, appointments, deals, funding, and customer interactions to maximize opportunities.
• Championing an exceptional customer experience and resolving escalated customer concerns professionally.
• Maintaining dealership presentation, inventory standards, and operational efficiency.
• Ensuring all departments align with Shift Auto Group's Common Purpose, Core Values, and operating standards.

What You'll Do

As the General Manager , you will spend the majority of your time working alongside managers and employees—coaching, inspecting, problem‑solving, removing operational bottlenecks, and driving execution throughout both operations.

• Recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and developing high‑performing leaders and future talent across all departments.
• Building a culture centered on accountability, teamwork, urgency, integrity, and continuous improvement .
• Leading the execution of dealership sales, internet lead, showroom, phone, finance, and customer follow‑up processes .
• Overseeing inventory acquisition, pricing, merchandising, aging, retail readiness, and overall inventory turn.
• Partnering with Wonder Auto leadership to maximize technician productivity, manage internal reconditioning capacity, and support retail service operations.
• Managing departmental expenses, staffing levels, productivity, and overall financial performance to hit annual profit targets.
• Monitoring CRM activity, appointments, active deals, funding, and customer interactions to ensure every opportunity is maximized.
• Championing an exceptional customer experience and resolving escalated customer concerns professionally and promptly.
• Maintaining exceptional dealership presentation, inventory standards, and operational efficiency.
• Ensuring all departments operate in alignment with Shift Auto Group's Common Purpose, Core Values, and operating standards.

What We're Looking

• For Minimum 5 years of progressive automotive leadership experience, with previous success as a General Manager, General Sales Manager, or equivalent senior leadership role
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi‑department automotive operations
• Strong understanding of dealership financial management, inventory management, fixed operations, and sales performance
• Proven ability to develop leaders, coach high‑performing teams, and drive accountability
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and decision‑making skills
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and customer focus
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

We offer a competitive executive compensation package consisting of salary and performance‑based incentives, with an expected annual earning potential of $150,000 – $250,000+ based on business performance.
