Sointula Co-op is seeking a General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across three locations, align strategy with the Board, and drive profitability while maintaining exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate brings 5–7 years in retail management, a business degree, and strong analytic and communication skills.

The Sointula Co-op,establishedin 1909, is the oldest Co-operative in Western Canada, generating approximately $4 million in annual sales. Weoperatethree locations: a full-service grocery store with meat, deli, and liquor departments; a gas bar and convenience store with bulk fuel sales; and a hardware store.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the GM willbe responsible forthe day-to-day performance and oversight of the organization, including the supervision and training of team members. Using effective interpersonal communication and a strategic mindset, the successful candidate willdemonstratebusiness insight and excellent analytical skills that align with and strengthen Sointula Co-op’s direction,goalsand operational plans. The GM will work with the Board to develop the strategic plan, andestablishthe strategy, goals, andobjectivesfor the organization in alignment with its mission, vision, and values. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide operational direction in the development and implementation of programs and policies to generate sustainable value and profitability for the organization. The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
You will work closely with the Board of Directors and lead a diverse team of staff of approximately 15 team members across 3 locations. This includes an Assistant Manager and Department Heads at the Gas Bar and Hardware store. This team strives to cultivate a culture of community, creativity, and integrity. You will also liaise with our parent organization, Federated Co-operatives Ltd., on a wide range of operational issues.
