GFL Environmental Inc. in Fort Frances, Ontario, is seeking a General Laborer to assist Residential Drivers with curbside waste and recycling collection, while supporting yard maintenance and equipment upkeep.

The role requires physical work outdoors in all weather and a strong safety mindset. You will work closely with drivers, yard crews, and supervisors to keep routes and facilities running smoothly, including early starts and possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform heavy manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with drivers and yard staff.
• Reliable attendance with flexibility for early shifts and overtime when needed.
• Experience in manual labor, warehouse, landscaping, or waste management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Curbside Collection: Assist Residential Drivers with loading waste, recycling, and organics.
• System Operations: Operate hydraulic/compaction systems with proper techniques.
• Vehicle & Driver Support: Act as a spotter during backing and tight turns.
• Yard & Facility housekeeping: Clean yards, sort materials, maintain work zones.
• Equipment & Fleet Prep: Wash and prep vehicles and bins in yard.
• Reporting & maintenance: Report hazards and write-ups to management.
• Regulatory compliance: Follow traffic laws, bylaws, PPE standards.
• Team collaboration: Work with Drivers, Helpers, and Supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.
