Position: General Laborer

Location: 5001 Herbert Dr, Navan, ON K4B 1J1

Employment Type: Full Time

Welcome to Matrec, a division of GFL! We are a dynamic company focused on growth and security. GFL is responsible for the collection and processing of waste, recycling and organic materials. We cover North America with more than 20,000 employees. We are looking for an energetic and motivated temporary General Laborer to support our growing business.

Working under direct supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Performs preventive maintenance services; inspect diagnosis and repair vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Paint and repair metal bins.
  • Manufacture various parts.
  • Pick up papers and residues on the site.
  • Paint the interior of buildings when necessary.
  • Possibility of driving heavy machinery.
  • All other related tasks requested by the immediate superior.
Work Conditions
  • Work is performed in an open automotive shop environment and may be exposed to the elements, the noise of machinery and vehicles, fumes, exhaust emissions, grease, engine oils, solvents, chemicals, dust, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, vehicle hazards and vibrations.
  • Stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, reach, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or less.
  • May work above shoulder level with power and/or hand tools weighing 15 pounds or less.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the positions and have mobility, vision, hearing, and sense of smell and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of two (2) years of mechanical experience automotive/truck, light or heavy equipment maintenance and repair or completion of accredited vocational technical school program.
  • Vehicle driver’s license.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary while operating or repairing equipment.
  • Skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
  • Ability to utilize fleet maintenance software program.
  • Knowledge of Total Tire Maintenance program.
  • Ability to complete required paperwork to accurately document repairs, utilization of parts and associated repair times.
