Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Swing Driver in Lloydminster, AB, to operate a Front Load collection truck on assigned routes. The role requires a Class 1 or Class 3 CDL with a clean abstract and CVOR, and at least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a truck driving program.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class 1 or 3) with a clean driving abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or completion of an accredited truck driving school program.
• Ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Strong reliability with attendance and flexibility for early starts and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Front Load collection truck along assigned routes.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete logs and paperwork.
• Collect commercial waste materials according to route schedules and safety protocols.
• Operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Report mechanical issues, hazards, or incidents to management promptly.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and high route productivity and customer service standards.
• Adhere to traffic laws, safety policies, PPE, and company procedures.
• Collaborate with Helpers and Supervisors to support daily operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate a Front Load collection truck along assigned routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Commercial Collection: Collect commercial waste materials in strict accordance with route schedules and corporate safety protocols.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate hydraulic and compaction systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Helpers and Supervisors to support smooth, efficient daily operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid Commercial Driver's License (3Q or above) with a clean Driver's Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (or completion of an accredited truck driving school program).
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles and hydraulic packer systems.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.
