Job summary

Aramark Canada is hiring for Dalhousie Food Services to provide friendly customer service at the dining facility. The role includes light cash handling, food prep at the station, and maintaining cleanliness, with opportunities to educate guests on menu items and daily features.

This is a union position with SEIU Local 2, offering benefits and growth opportunities. Prior food service experience is an asset and certifications like WHMIS or Food Safe are welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous customer service to all customers.
• Handle light cash transactions and balance float.

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of the work area.
• Prepare food according to the menu at the assigned station.
• Stock shelves and merchandise, including bars and coolers.
• Record temperatures and log waste and cleaning activities.
• Comply with Aramark and Dalhousie policies; perform other duties as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers
• Light cash handling duties including processing customer transactions, balancing float, participating in audits
• Educate customers on menu items, daily features, dining hall events
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area
• Food preparation in accordance with menu at assigned station
• Stock and merchandise shelves, cereal and bread bar, salad bar, and coolers
• May wash and sanitize dishes and utensils
• Record temperatures, label products in accordance with FIFO, complete waste log and cleaning log
• Adhere to all Aramark and Dalhousie University policies and procedures
• May perform other job duties as required

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience is an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Additional certification may be required by work location
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
