Job summary

David Aplin Recruiting is seeking a Bilingual Payroll Specialist to support a centralized payroll team across Canada, with focus on the Quebec district. This full-time, in-office role requires proficiency in French and English and experience with full-cycle payroll for hourly employees.

Location options include Edmonton, Montreal, or Ottawa. Compensation ranges from CAD 65,000 to 77,000 plus annual/performance bonus, with benefits from day one and pension matching.

Qualifications

• Fluent in written and spoken French and English.
• Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience (5+ preferred).
• Quebec payroll experience strongly preferred.
• Canadian payroll legislation knowledge and high-volume payroll familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle weekly payroll for hourly employees.
• Handle new hires, terminations, transfers, and employee changes.
• Review time entries and support transition from paper to electronic timekeeping.
• Process payroll remittances, deductions, benefits, and adjustments.
• Prepare T4s, Relevé 1s, and year-end payroll reporting.
• Reconcile and remit payroll and union benefit liabilities.
• Ensure compliance with Quebec requirements and collective agreements.
• Collaborate with internal teams, employees, and union reps.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain confidential payroll records.
