Job summary

Aplin recruiting a Bilingual Payroll Specialist to join a busy centralized payroll team supporting operations across Canada, with a focus on the Quebec district. This is an in-office role handling full-cycle payroll for hourly staff.

Fluency in French and English is mandatory, with 2+ years of payroll experience (5+ preferred). Quebec payroll knowledge and JD Edwards/JDE or Oracle assets are advantageous. Edmonton, Montreal, or Ottawa options available.

Qualifications

• Fluent in French and English (bilingual) required.
• Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll experience; 5+ preferred.
• Quebec payroll experience strongly preferred.
• Union payroll experience is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, deductions, and remittances.
• Experience with hourly payroll in high-volume environments.
• PCP certification or working toward PCP preferred.
• Experience with JD Edwards/JDE or Oracle payroll systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle weekly payroll for hourly employees.
• Process new hires, terminations, transfers, and employee changes.
• Review and process time entries and transition to electronic timekeeping.
• Process payroll remittances, deductions, benefits, and adjustments.
• Prepare T4s, Relevé 1s, and other year-end payroll reporting.
• Reconcile and remit payroll and union benefit liabilities.
• Ensure payroll complies with Quebec requirements, government legislation, and collective agreements.
• Work closely with internal teams, employees, and union representatives.
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who is comfortable with full-cycle payroll, hourly employees, and a fast-paced environment.

Location: Edmonton, Montreal, or Ottawa

Work Arrangement: In-office

Compensation

• $65,000–$77,000 annually, based on experience and location
