Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Area Manager II to lead a team of up to 80 hourly associates at a fulfillment center in Canada. You’ll coach staff, drive safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery while aligning with cross-functional partners such as Quality, HR, and Safety to implement scalable improvements.

The role requires 2+ years of management experience and flexibility for shifts, including weekends and nights.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
• Experience in the management of large teams (50+ members).
• Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen).
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries: shipping/logistics distribution centers, manufacturing environments, hospitality, healthcare, retail, and customer-facing / customer-service environments.

Responsibilities

• Support, mentor, and motivate your hourly workforce
• Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises
• Collaborate with all support teams including Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, Human Resources to develop plans to meet business objectives
• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
• Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
• Work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud
• Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)
• Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)
• As an Area Manager II at an Amazon fulfillment center, you'll act as a strategic leader overseeing upto 80 associates while driving department level operational improvements.
• You'll conduct planning sessions with your team, coaching them through operational challenges while developing their leadership capabilities.
• On a typical day, you'll partner cross-functionally with teams such as Quality, HR, and Safety to implement scalable process improvements that could impact 200+ associates across multiple workflows.
• You'll diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics, facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department-level goals, and make data-driven decisions that balance competing priorities.
• You would leverage your strategic thinking to review department-wide metrics, and plan initiatives that directly impact millions of customer orders while maintaining high levels of engagement, safety, quality, and productivity standards.
