Job summary

The University of Prince Edward Island’s Faculty of Education invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach ED-4972-99 Practicum II (taught in French) in winter 2027. Instructors must be available for in-person teaching and meet a clear background check requirement.

Ideal candidates hold a Master of Education or equivalent and typically have K-12 school-based experience in Canada. Applicants with other relevant teaching experience will be considered.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates will have a Master of Education or equivalent degree.
• Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system.
• Applicants without school-based experience may be considered if teaching in other relevant contexts.
• Experience in teaching, research, or practice related to the course content is expected.
• Seniority on the UPEI Faculty of Education’s Sessional Roster may be given priority.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a 10-week teaching practicum with guidance from a practicum advisor and host mentor.
• Help students develop lesson plans, unit plans, and classroom management skills.
• Contribute to in-school supervision of up to ten pre-service teachers and conduct group meetings during the semester.
